How We Started

In September 1999, a burden placed in the heart of Pastor Jeff Fugate became a living reality with the founding of Commonwealth Baptist College. What began as a God-given desire to train laborers for the harvest has grown into a ministry committed to preparing servants for His work. Dr. Fugate has carried a vision to see independent fundamental Baptist churches planted across America, including a goal of starting fifty churches in the state of Kentucky. Through the leadership of Clays Mill Baptist Church, that burden has been put into action through revival meetings, a renewed bus ministry, the strengthening of established churches, and the starting of new ones.

For twenty-six years, Commonwealth Baptist College has stood as a place where young people can prepare to give their lives in service to the Lord. Built upon the sure foundation of God’s Word and guided by strong Bible standards, the college provides a sound academic program designed to equip students for their God-given calling. The heartbeat of the faculty and staff is simple and steady—to train a new generation of Christian leaders who will serve faithfully, stand firmly, and finish well.
