Dr. Jeffery J. Fugate

Founder & President

 Dr. Jeffery Fugate became the Pastor of the Clays Mill Baptist Church in May of 1991. Since that time the church has grown an average of 100 members per year for twenty-one years. God is dynamically using Dr. Fugate in leading the church to record attendance, to start new outreach ministries, and helping his church members experience personal revival and Christian growth. 

        Prior to coming to Lexington, Dr. Fugate was a successful pastor at the Bible Baptist Church in Hazard, Kentucky for five years. Dr. Fugate is also the preacher on the daily “Voice of the Appalachians” radio broadcast, which was founded by Dr. B. R. Lakin. After the home-going of Dr. Wally Beebe, Dr. Fugate became the editor of the Church Bus News which has now become the Christian Growth Magazine. Dr. Fugate and Clays Mill Baptist Church have been instrumental in starting several new churches in Kentucky. Dr. Fugate regularly conducts regional bus conferences around the country. Dr. Fugate broadcasts the services of Clays Mill Road Baptist Church on a regional television network. Dr. Fugate has authored several books and preaches regularly in national conferences. 

Dr. Russell Anderson 

Co-Founder

         Dr. Anderson was a of the Clays Mill Baptist Church. The Commonwealth of Kentucky held a special place in the affections of Dr. Russell Anderson. Dr. Anderson was born and reared in McDowell, (Floyd County) Kentucky.

        Although God moved Dr. Anderson to Michigan, where he built several successful businesses, he never lost his burden to see the starting of independent fundamental Baptist churches in Kentucky. God moved on the heart of Dr. Anderson to become the co-founder of Commonwealth Baptist College and to have a part in this vital ministry of training soul winners and Christian leaders.

Dr. James Jorgensen 

Executive Vice President

Dr. James Jorgensen has been in Baptist College work for fifty-four years. He was employed at Hyles-Anderson College for twenty-three years, where he served on the faculty as Dean and as Vice President. He then served as Vice President at the founding of Golden State Baptist College. He is an educator with degrees from Princeton University and from Tennessee Temple Seminary. He is also a bus worker and soul winner. He has worked in the bus ministry for over a third of a century as a bus captain and bus director. He has started two bus ministries and is currently the “C” Bus and Sunday School Director at Clays Mill Baptist Church. 

Bro.Derek Young

Vice President

       Bro. Young earned a B.S. degree from Hyles-Anderson College. He has been in Christian college work for nineteen years with previous experience as a grade school and high school administrator for two years. Bro. Young also pastored for three years and has been involved in the bus ministry for six years; teaches multiple academic courses at Commonwealth Baptist College; organizes and directs the athletic programs and weekly activities offered to the students. Bro. Young organizes and directs the college soul-winning vans that minster weekly to the Lexington area. He currently serves as an adult Sunday school teacher with over thirteen years of Sunday school teaching experience.

Dr. Steve Fisher 

Vice President

       Dr. Steve Fisher has been serving the Lord in full-time ministry for over thirty-three years. Upon his graduation from Hyles-Anderson College, he served as youth pastor in Lewisville, Texas for seven years. He then transitioned to West Virginia where he served as an assistant pastor for five years. Before coming to Commonwealth Baptist College, Dr. Fisher served as the senior pastor of New Testament Baptist Church in Butler, Pennsylvania for thirteen years. Dr. Fisher currently oversees the growth and development of Commonwealth Baptist College working with the recruitment, alumni, fundraising, and social media. He also teaches several Bible courses at the College and is involved with the soul-winning and visitation ministries of Clays Mill Baptist Church.
